What is the AppMarket?

A: The AppMarket is a digital store where Architect clients can browse and download applications for Architect, an open digital banking platform.

 

Purchase

 

Are apps in the AppMarket rated?

A: Yes, all apps can be rated. Find the specific app you would like to review in the AppMarket and click on the “Review” tab. Rate the app in the section titled “Write Your Own Review.”

What are the requirements/pre-requisites for downloading an app?

A: The requirements and pre-requisites are provided with each app. That includes the required theme, core, third-party information, etc.

How do I gain access to the Market?

A: The AppMarket is a public, online store that enables developers and clients to share applications. Simply visit www.appmarket.fiservapps.com. Anyone can visit the app market. However, they need to sign-in to purchase. There is currently an effort to limit the access to non-clients.

Is there a security risk to allow anyone access?

A: There is not a security risk. However, there is a competitive risk. Therefore, we want to be selective as to who receives permission to access.

When I enter the AppMarket, I see a tab for the DNA. Why?

A: The AppMarket features all Fiserv products. To date, DNA and Architect are the only Fiserv products with app markets. Please note: to purchase or publish Architect applications you do not need to have the DNA core as Architect is an open platform and core neutral.

If a non-DNA client clicks on the ‘DNA Apps’ tab, what will happen?

A: Only DNA clients will have access to the ‘DNA Apps.’ All others will be denied access.

How much does it cost to purchase applications in the AppMarket?

A: Each application will have its own purchase and maintenance price. The pricing will be prominently displayed with each application. The user will be able to see the price next to the app information.

Are there maintenance Service Level Agreements (SLAs)?

A: Yes, there are SLAs.

What happens if the publisher of the application leaves the Financial Institution?

A: If the publisher leaves the institution, the institution will need to assign another owner of the application. Fiserv will retain the ownership if a new owner isn’t assigned by the developer.

What happens if our Financial Institution leaves Architect?

A: If the financial institution is the publisher of the application, then the application becomes property of Fiserv and the maintenance will become part of the Fiserv PS team’s responsibility.

How do I purchase applications through the AppMarket?

A: Login to the AppMarket, select the application, click “Add to Cart,” and click “Checkout” to complete your purchase. All purchases will be billed to the organization.

Can I restrict my staff from being able to purchase apps?

A: Yes, only allow individual you wish to purchase apps join the app store. Only individuals who join the app store have the authority to purchase applications.

Do I need the Architect SDK to purchase applications through the AppMarket?

A: No, you do not need the Architect SDK to purchase applications through AppMarket.

If I do not have the Architect SDK, is there an implementation fee?

A: Yes, the Professional Services implementation fee is shown as a separate line item within the cart.

After purchasing an application, how long will it take to receive the app?

A: On-premise clients will receive the application instantly. Hosted clients will need to contact their Architect Account Executive for a timeline estimate.

Is the estimate a timeline estimate or is it also an estimate for installation?

A: The estimate provided by the Architect Account Executive is only a timeline estimate.

How do I contact Professional Services?

A: Please contact your Architect Account Executive.

Do I have a dedicated Professional Services engineer?

A: Your financial institution’s Professional Services engagement will not change with access to the AppMarket. The AppMarket doesn’t assign a dedicated professional services engineer. If your financial institution has an engineer assigned already, then that engineer will remain assigned.

Do I have a dedicated Project Manager?

A: Your financial institution’s Professional Services engagement will not change with access to the AppMarket. The AppMarket doesn’t assign a dedicated project manager. If your financial institution has a project manager assigned already, then that project manager will remain assigned.

How do I contact my Project Manager?

A: Please contact your Architect Account Executive.

Will the AppMarket recognize if I am a hosted or on-premise client?

A: Yes, AppMarket will recognize whether you are a hosted or on-premise client.

Do I need the SDK to install application?

A: No, you do not need the SDK to install an application.

How do I return an application?

A: Please contact your Architect Account Executive to return an application. You may return your application at any time within the first 30 days after project completion for a full refund. After 30-days, if you return an application, you will only receive a refund for the annual maintenance fee.

If I am an on-premise Architect client, how do I install an application?

A: Please follow the installation instructions provided with the application documentationInstallation instructions are application specific.

Is installation documentation provided with each application? 

A: Yes, there is documentation available within each application.

If I have questions about the installation, who do I ask?  How do I get help?

A: Click the “Discuss This App” link within each application to ask the developer questions. There is also a “Request New Feature” if you would like to request new features.

If I did not get instructions upon purchase, can I go still access them?

A: Yes, you can go back to the app store and re-download the documentation at any point in time. Each app has a document tab below its description where the documents are located.

Is there an SLA for response times? Assistance? Resolution?

A: The general guideline is 24-48 hours for response and assistance. The resolution may take longer depending on the problem

 

Publish

 

Do apps need to be core agnostic? 

A: No, applications do not need to be core neutral.

How will I indicate the pre-requisites?

A: Please indicate the pre-requisites in the “Requirements” tab.

Who can publish applications on the AppMarket?

A: Any client who has developed an application with the Architect software development kit (Architect SDK) can publish applications on the AppMarket. In addition, licensed, third-party developers who have purchased the Architect SDK can publish applications on the AppMarket. The Architect SDK is not required to purchase an application.

How does a developer become a Certified Architect Developer?

A: From time-to-time Fiserv profession services publishes developer training and certification program. The developers will need to sign up for a program that is suitable to them. The developer certification training program is a 2-day program and is held at a Fiserv facility.

If the app is published by a licensed third-party developer, do I need to sign an agreement with that company?

A: No. The agreement is always with Fiserv to purchase an application.

Does Fiserv have due-diligence package on these third parties?

A: This is currently under development. Fiserv will qualify third parties for developing and publishing the apps.

How do I get a copy of the due-diligence package for my audit team?

A: Once completed, due-diligence packages will be made available.

How are applications published to the AppMarket?

A: Please contact Professional Services for publishing your app. A case must be submitted through ServicePoint with the application package and documentation for review.

What types of applications can be published on the AppMarket?

A: Any application that is created with the Architect SDK can be published on the AppMarket. The term app is a short form of “application”. Various types of apps can be created with the Architect SDK. For example, the app can be a simple UI module to show the user’s last name or a more complex module that fetches the user’s 401K balance from a third-party vendor and estimates when their retirement goal may be reached. The publisher may also publish a script or a “skin” for UI, which does not use the SDK.

Do I own my application?

A: The publisher of the application owns the application.

Can I publish scripts or modules that have not been developed with the SDK?

A: Yes. For example, you can publish a script that does a specific job or a “skin” for Theme 4.

How much does it cost to publish applications in the AppMarket?

A: Depends on the complexity and marketability of the application. During the validation process, your cost will be quoted. At this time, you can determine if you wish to publish your application or not.

Are applications reviewed and validated before being published on the AppMarket?  

A: Yes. All Architect applications are validated by Fiserv before being placed on the AppMarket to ensure they meet the same rigorous quality, safety and stability standards applied to our own Fiserv developed Architect applications.

Do publishers and developers need to agree to Fiserv standards and documentation requirements prior to publishing applications?

A: Yes, all publishers and developers must agree to Fiserv standards and documentation requirements upon joining the app store.

Are there any other requirements to publish an application on the AppMarket?

A: All applications must enable institutions to differentiate themselves in the market, lower their development costs and improve overall business processes. All code must be written in compliance with Architect SDK requirements, as well as tested and bug-free. All app submissions will be reviewed by Fiserv’s team for code review, compliance and security.

Will there be a review of submissions for appropriateness?

A: Yes, there are separate validation rules for developers to ensure appropriateness.

As a third-party developer, what is the revenue share for the AppMarket?

A: Application developers (client or third party) will receive 70% of the purchase revenue. In addition, if the developer wishes to provide support for the application, the developer will retain 70% of the annual maintenance revenue. If the developer does not want to provide support for the application, then Fiserv’s professional services will provide the support and retain 100% of the annual maintenance revenue.

As a client developer, what is the revenue share for the AppMarket?

A: Application developers (client or third-party) will receive 70% of the purchase revenue. In addition, if the developer wishes to provide support for the application, the developer will retain 70% of the annual maintenance revenue. If the developer does not want to provide support for the application, then Fiserv’s professional services will provide the support and retain 100% of the annual maintenance revenue.

Do I have to use the Architect SDK to create applications for the AppMarket?

A: Yes. Developers must use the Architect SDK to create applications for the AppMarket. There are exceptions to the use of the SDK. For example, there may be scripts or modules (that do not require the SDK) that can be published.

What are the revenue splits if I maintain my application?

A: As a developer, you retain 70% of the purchase price and 70% of the maintenance fee. The application needs to be maintained until the app remains published on the app store. If the developer wishes to no longer provide maintenance, then the app maintenance and fee will be transferred to the Fiserv professional services team.

If I publish an application, do I need to provide support to financial institution’s that purchase the application?

A: Yes, the developer provides app support to the purchasers until the app is no longer live on the app store.

What are the revenue splits if Fiserv maintains my application?

A: As a developer, you retain 70% of the license fee and Fiserv retains 100% of the maintenance fee.

How do I receive my revenue split?

A: Revenue splits will be received on the 15th of the month after the quarter close via ACH.

 

Support

 

What are the guidelines and process to include apps in base code?

A: Yes, there is a process to review the app and there are guidelines and validation rules. A team of product managers and members from other groups come together to review each app and what it would take to add it to the base code. They determine if a given app should be added in base code.

If I purchased an app and Architect adds to base code, do I have to pay again?

A: Yes. When Architect decides to add an app to the base code, they redesign the software, add configuration options, create entitlements, adds a UX team to review UX / UI design and have Enterprise Architecture team on hand to help with the code design. The resulting feature is a fresh new look that gets added to the base product.

Do I need the Architect SDK to publish apps?

A: Yes, if you would like to publish on the AppMarket, you will need to purchase an SDK. You do not need an SDK to purchase from the AppMarket.

If I do not currently have the Architect SDK, what do I need to do?

A: If you are an Architect client or third party developer, please contact your Architect Account Executive to purchase Architect SDK.

How much does the Architect SDK cost?

A: If you are an Architect client or third party developer, please contact your Architect Account Executive for a price quote.

Where can I view the Terms and Conditions?

A: The Terms and Conditions are presented at the time of registration.

If I am an on-premise Architect client, how do I install an application?

A: Please follow the installation instructions provided with the application documentationInstallation instructions are application specific.

Is application documentation provided with the application download? Or easily located after downloading the application?

A: Yes, application documentation is part of the downloaded package. There is also a separate area where application documents are easily located.

Who do I contact if I am having trouble publishing or purchasing an application?

A: Please open a case on ServicePoint for help with the AppMarket.

How do I report application defects or request app enhancements?

A: Each app has a link “Discuss this App”. Report the defects or request the app enhancements through that feature. This will open ServicePoint for you to create a case.

How do I get an updated version of a purchased application?

A: When an application update is available, an alert is sent. On-premises clients can access and install the updated version by downloading it. Hosted clients will need to contact their professional service team or open a case through Service Point.

How do I cancel fees if I no longer use an application?

A: Please contact your Architect Account Executive.

What services are provided by the AppMarket?

A: All Architect applications are validated by Fiserv before being placed on the AppMarket to ensure they meet the same rigorous quality, safety and stability standards applied to our own Fiserv developed Architect applications. In addition, Fiserv professional services will support the application at the developer’s request.
